The Viking Centre (the Centre) is a bunk house and community centre comprising 4 dormitories accommodating up to 20 people, social area, dining area, kitchen, 3 toilet and shower rooms and front and rear lobbies. Outside there is a carpark and outdoor space with a BBQ. The Centre is of brick and tile construction and was converted into a bunkhouse from the old village school.
The Centre is let to the public and is used by community groups, families and village organisations.
The West Lindsey Silver Jubilee Association Management Committee (the Committee) is responsible for the management of the Centre and is committed to promote the health, safety and welfare of our visitors, members of the public and contractors.
The objectives of the Health and Safety Statement are, as far as is reasonably practicable, to:
- Manage risks
- Prevent accidents
This will be achieved through the following measures:
- Provide clear advice and instruction to visitors
- Ensure emergency procedures are in place
- Provide and maintain a safe environment and equipment
- Put in place procedures to monitor potential risks
- Maintain public liability insurance cover
- Comply with current legislation
- Review feedback from visitors and take action as required
These objectives can only be achieved through the support and cooperation of everyone who uses the Centre. Everyone has a responsibility to behave in a way that does not cause a risk to the safety of themselves or others.
It is the responsibility of all visitors to:
- Read the health and safety policy and risk assessments
- Comply with instructions and advice
- Report any hazards or dangers noticed to the Committee
- Report any accidents
HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
This is the statement of policy and arrangements for The Viking Centre, Pelham Road, Claxby, LN8 3YR
Overall responsibility for health and safety is delegated to the West Lindsey Silver Jubilee Management Committee.
Day to day responsibility for ensuring the policy is put into practice is delegated to Andrew Lyle and Gillian Saywell.
